The Shawangunk Kennel Club was new to me. I had heard great things about the club from some friends, but I had not had the pleasure of photographing for them yet. I really hoped I would get the chance to work with them at some point.

Imagine my excitement when a club member reached out to me! The club needed a photographer for their April Fast CAT event and luckily, I was available! It would be my first event of 2026.


I tend to get anxious before events, especially when it's a club I haven't worked with yet. I was also recovering from a broken rib at the time, which compounded the anxiety I had.

To my great relief, everyone at the club was so kind and welcoming! They made the anxiety melt away. I got to chat with new people, pet new dogs, and the conditions were great for capturing the dogs running down the track! The club was as wonderful to work with as I had heard.


This Fast CAT was the perfect opening to the 2026 dog sports season. I am so excited to come back for the Shawangunk Kennel Club Spring Fast CAT in 2027!
